Gemini is the twin brothers Castor and Pollux of Greek myth. One was mortal and the other a son of Zeus, and when Castor died, Pollux asked to share his own immortality so the two could stay together. Two bright stars named after the brothers still shine side by side in the constellation.

Gemini season bridges late spring and early summer in the Northern Hemisphere, when days stretch out and life moves outdoors, which suits a breezy Air sign. Because of precession, though, the Sun spends most of these dates in front of Taurus nowadays. Astrological signs mark slices of the seasons, and they've drifted out of step with the constellations.
