Astrology, for fun

♒ Aquarius

Jan 20 ~ Feb 18 · Air · Fixed · Ruler Uranus (traditionally Saturn)

Aquarius is the water bearer, a figure pouring water from a jar. In Greek myth he is Ganymede, the handsome youth Zeus carried off to serve as cupbearer to the gods. Much earlier, in Babylon, the constellation was linked to the rainy season and rivers in flood. It sits in a stretch of sky crowded with watery figures like Pisces and Cetus the whale, which is why this region is sometimes called 'the Sea.'

Aquarius season comes in the depths of winter in the Northern Hemisphere, as the days lengthen bit by bit and the world quietly gets ready for spring. Because of precession, the Sun now spends most of these dates in front of Capricornus. The astrological Aquarius is a seasonal slice counted from the equinox.

Aquarius is traditionally described as original and open-minded. It's said to be unafraid of seeing things differently, to care deeply about friends and community, and to love imagining a better world. As an Air sign ruled by Uranus (traditionally Saturn), it is pictured as full of fresh ideas and individuality.

Your quirkiest idea might be just the inspiration someone else needs. Jot down whatever pops into your head today, or share it with a friend on the same wavelength.

At its best

Original, open-minded, and community-minded. Aquarius is said to bring fresh ideas and real care for the group.
