Major Arcana 17
The Star
Imagery and symbolism
One large eight-pointed star and seven smaller stars shine in the night sky. Beneath them a woman kneels with one knee on the ground and one foot on the water, pouring water from two jugs into a pool and onto the land. The water on the land runs off in five streams, and a bird perches in a tree behind her. Like the calm night that follows the storm of the Tower, the Star traditionally represents hope, renewal and an open heart with nothing to hide. It also carries the generosity of passing on to the world what you have received.
Upright
| My day | Your heart feels clearer today. Writing down one small wish can turn it into a star that guides your day. |
|---|---|
| Work | Hope is returning to a goal you have held for a long time. Rather than a grand plan, choose a small habit you can keep up. |
| Relationships & love | This is a time when you can trust each other easily. The more you show yourself as you are, the warmer the bond becomes. |
| What is on my mind | If you have been through a hard time, this is a sign that recovery has begun. Do not rush; refill your energy slowly. |
Reversed
| My day | You may feel a little tired and hope may seem far away. Today, just do one small thing that makes you smile. |
|---|---|
| Work | If your goal feels too far away, break it into smaller steps. Light up the small stars you can reach today, one at a time. |
| Relationships & love | You may feel let down that your feelings are not coming across as you hoped. Putting your expectations into words helps the other person respond better. |
| What is on my mind | When your faith wavers, think of how you have come through so far. The stars are still shining behind the clouds. |
Advice
Hold on to even a small hope, and keep moving forward steadily, only as much as you can today.
