Major Arcana 20
Judgement
Imagery and symbolism
An angel appears among the clouds, blowing a trumpet hung with a banner bearing a red cross. At the sound, a man, a woman and a child rise from coffins floating on the water, spreading their arms and looking up to the sky. Snow-capped mountains rise in the distance. Although the card is called "Judgement," it is less a scene of punishment than a moment of hearing a call, waking up and rising into a new life. Traditionally the card stands for looking honestly at the past, forgiving yourself and setting out again in the direction you truly want.
Upright
| My day | Today you may suddenly feel "maybe now is the time." Listen to that small call. |
|---|---|
| Work | Looking back on past experience makes the next step clear right now. Sorting out what went well and what did not leads to better decisions. |
| Relationships & love | This is a chance to resolve old hurts and start the relationship fresh. A heartfelt conversation reawakens what is between you. |
| What is on my mind | The answer to a long-held question is slowly becoming clear. Letting your past self go with kindness makes a new start lighter. |
Reversed
| My day | You may be judging yourself too harshly. Today, start by remembering what you did well. |
|---|---|
| Work | If you are hesitating over an important decision, reset your criteria. Writing down the result you truly want reduces the hesitation. |
| Relationships & love | If past events keep coming up, see whether something needs forgiving. That includes forgiving yourself, not just the other person. |
| What is on my mind | If you have been ignoring an inner call, it is time to answer it in a small way. The perfect moment never comes, so one step now is enough. |
Advice
Look honestly at the past, but use it as fuel for your next start rather than a reason to punish yourself.
